If you’re traveling to Andalusia, this private day cooking experience is the perfect excuse to discover the beautiful area of Vejer de la Frontera and the coast of Cádiz, just over 1 hour drive South of Seville.

Your host will be Carlos, our local English-speaking cooking instructor, who started cooking at his family restaurant in Conil de la Frontera, and has worked as a cook in Seville and The Netherlands, where he met his Ducht wife. Both live now in a charming finca outside of Vejer, surrounded by orange and fig trees, grenades… This is where your cooking class will take place.

You will start the day visiting with Carlos the popular food market of Barbarte, a fishing town devoted to catching red tuna maintaining the sustainable and ancient Almadraba technique. You will be amazed with the unique atmosphere and the variety of foods, fish in particular, the freshest you can find!

On arrival to the family’s finca feel at home, pour yourself a glass of wine and get ready to use seasonal ingredients brought from the market to prepare with Carlos a delicious local menu, including recipes such as atún encebollao (tuna cooked with onions and wine), cazón en adobo (deep fried marinated fish), papas aliñás (potato salad), gazpacho or ajo caliente (gazpacho’s warm version), local tapas… Relax and enjoy cooking and chatting with your local host in this beautiful setting, feel welcome to participate, ask, suggest… and take a bite of this or that while cooking.

When the food is ready, sit down and enjoy a mouth-watering lunch accompanied with fine Spanish wines and, if you have time, a nice sobremesa (after meal time for a second coffee, drink, chat…).
