One day Cava and culinary excursion from Barcelona
We did a day trip to Sitges, lovely beach town…next stop at Conde de Valicourt in the Cava region. Our hosts were welcoming, tremendously interesting and humble about their craft. In summary, go now!
The next day we arrived to the beautiful coastal town of Sitges…before heading to the Penedes wine region. We met producers of artisanal cava and after a wonderful tasting and sabering, we sat down for a homemade lunch with the most delicious gazpacho.
Our second day saw us visiting Sitges, a delightful coastal town outside Barcelona, before we were whisked away to enjoy a private Cava tasting and (another) light lunch. Now these ‘light lunches’ are something you have to experience!

Your English-speaking driver will meet you at the lobby of your hotel in Barcelona. Relax during your comfortable private chauffeured ride south of Barcelona, while enjoying the beautiful landscape.
The Penedès region, protected by the sacred mountain of Montserrat, has been associated with vineyard cultivation and wine production for thousands of years. In this land, specialized wineries have been producing Cava on a commercial scale since the end of the 19th century.
In Sant Sadurní d’Anoia, the center of Cava-making, you’ll enjoy a private visit to the first producer of the Cava Protected Designation of Origin practising biodynamic agriculture. You will learn about the process and will appreciate the vocation of this family devoted to elaborating Cava since 1924, following the purest and most traditional handling style. During this visit you will taste the house Cava, as well as other terroir white wines elaborated by this family.
Continue to Sitges where you will enjoy lunch, based on the tasteful fish and rice-based specialities of this coastal town, accompanied of course with the excellent wine of this region!
After lunch, you’ll have time for taking in the charming atmosphere of Sitges, you can explore on your own its fabulous Modernist heritage, the many Indiano houses – built by wealthy local families that made their fortune in the Americas, the beautiful beaches… Optional visits may include one of the many interesting Museums in town, such as Cau Ferrat, the house-studio of writer and painter Santiago Rusiñol, who turned Sitges into an important meeting point for artists and intellectuals.
When you decide it’s time, your private driver will take you back to Barcelona where your trip ends.
