Galicia, Seafood & Wine Heaven
Five days culinary tour in Santiago and Rias Baixas
A fabulous trip! my wife and I have travelled the world, and never received this level of thought, attention and care.
Our trip to Galicia was one of the very best trips we have ever been on. It was just the right blend of everything, absolutely perfect. Toward the end of most of our trips I am ready to come home, but not this time. We will be back!
A Taste of Spain has various northern Spanish packages, including a 5-day tour of Galicia, split between historic Santiago and the wine region of Rias Baixas
I’d highly recommend this tour. We’ve traveled on many tours in numerous countries – and this is hands down, the best we’ve been on. We’re considering going back, and we’ll definitely take another culinary tour with A Taste of Spain.
We enjoyed our trip to Galicia so much. It couldn’t have been planned any better, it was truly a dream vacation. Thanks for sharing your knowledge of your beautiful country with us!

Then, we’ll ask you to roll your sleeves up for your private cooking class, in which you will learn how to prepare flavorful Galician recipes. Enjoy what you’ve cooked for lunch paired with local wines.

Day Three – Sea Life and Seafood in Ria de Arousa
Check-out for your next two days in the Rias Baixas. First stop to visit the Pazo de Rubianes: a lordly palace and amazing garden of over 4,500 camellias, it also has its own wine production that you will visit and taste.
Afterwards it’s time to enjoy a private boat excursion to admire the wonderful Ria de Arousa and learn about the local fishing tradition of the incredible seafood of its waters.
Continue to the historic port village of Cambados, where you may see the “mariscadoras” (shell-fisherwomen) at their shell picking activity on the Ria during the low tide.
Check-in at your cozy boutique hotel, at just 10 minutes from Ria de Arousa, the perfect base to keep exploring this Southern part of Galicia, called Rias Baixas.
Take part in an evening cooking workshop at the hotel in which you will learn how to prepare those gorgeous seafood products seen on your boat excursion, followed by dinner.
Night in Rias Baixas.
Day Four – Albariño wine & Pontevedra medieval town
Today you’ll learn about Galician wine, right where it comes from. First visit is to a prestigious Albariño winery, where you will taste their acclaimed white wines.
Then, you’ll continue to Pontevedra, located on the edge of the Ria (estuary) of the same name: the old town extends in a network of streets and squares of great beauty. The deeply-rooted maritime tradition of Pontevedra and nearby ports has resulted in a cuisine largely based on fresh fish and seafood that you will enjoy at a selected restaurant.
